Kazangap Tlepbergenuly

Kazangap Tlepbergenuly is the great Kazakh kuishi, whose music has swept through the centuries, leaving a deep mark in the hearts listeners. Born in 1854 in the town of Akbauyr in the west of the Aral Sea, he was fascinated by the sounds of dombra from childhood. Seeing his talent, his father personally made an instrument for him, which became an extension of the soul of the young musician.

The first kui “Bay horse” Kazangap created in 1875 and since then his name began to be heard in various corners Kazakh land. He traveled, met with folk musicians, enriching his technique and style. His kuis are philosophical reflections on life, on human dignity, on the beauty of nature and on complex historical events. In the works “Trenches”, “Remained in people",

Kazangap left behind more than 120 kuys,  his musical heritage still inspires musicians. His melodies are performed by orchestras, his works are heard on concert stages, and streets, music colleges and art schools are named after him.

Kui Kazangapa is the voice of the Kazakh steppe, its pain, joy and eternal wisdom.
