Doskhan Zholzhaksynov is a name that has become synonymous with Kazakh cinema and theater. Born in 1951 in the East Kazakhstan region, in the family of the Kurman Aknaiman tribe Naiman. Art attracted him since childhood, and in 1969 he entered the Kurmangazy Institute of Arts, where the great Khadisha Bukeeva became his mentor. It was a time of formation, searching for his voice, his path.
Already in 1972, he appeared on stage, debuting in the play “The Golden Wall.” Then came the roles that made his name famous. He plays Smatbek, Kazakbai, Syrym, Samet, Akaia... He tries on the fates of different heroes,
transmitting them in such a way that the audience believes him unconditionally. His acting has sincerity, inner strength and powerful artistic temperament.
But Zholzhaksynov is not only an actor, but also a director who knows how to feel the frame, rhythm, emotion. He creates images that remain in memory, he is not just makes films he tells stories. For his contribution to culture, he has received many awards, including the title of People's Artist of Kazakhstan and the country's highest order – “Otan.”
