Mikey bi

There's a saying among the Kazakhs: "All wise words come from one source, and their progenitor is Mayky bi." It's no wonder the people treasure these words. In ancient legends, Mayky bi is portrayed as a man of extraordinary wisdom and farsightedness.

Once, when Genghis Khan ascended the throne, biys from every clan gathered and held a grand council. They all arrived mounted on tulpars, but only Mayky bi arrived in a cart. His cart was driven by men. To the astonished people, he said:
"You arrived riding on four-legged animals, but I have never ridden an animal in my entire life. So, in this respect, I surpass you."

They say that the people, admiring his wisdom and resourcefulness, elected him supreme biy.

Another ancient legend about Mayky bi has been preserved.

In ancient times, a khan named Kyzyl Arystan had a son born to a captive girl. The child was born with a motley crew. Seeing this, the khan's eldest wife, out of jealousy, began to say that when the boy grew up, he would bring unrest to the people, and demanded that he and his mother be exiled. Eventually, the khan relented.

Forty horsemen ferried the mother and child across the Syr Darya and abandoned them in a remote mountainous region. Years passed. When the boy turned twelve, he was left alone. One day, a young man named Uysin, hunting in the area, saw the boy. He noticed his extraordinary beauty, as if created from moonlight and sunlight. But he was even more struck by the fact that the boy sat alone, not speaking to anyone. Returning home, he told his father, Mayky bi, everything.

Mayky bi himself came to see the child. The boy, who hadn't followed Uysin or said a word to him, immediately jumped to his feet upon seeing Mayky bi and greeted him:

"Assalamu'alaikum, support of all khans, bulwark of the common people!"

Mayky bi rejoiced at his intelligence and said:
"Child, you are destined to become a great man. There was simply no one nearby who could raise you."

With these words, he took the boy into his own home. He raised him as his own son, and when he reached maturity, he gave him a hundred horsemen as companions and sent him off to found his own nation. Blessing them, Mayky bi said:
"Where there is reason and harmony, the foundation of a nation grows stronger. Where there is unity, the people grow and the land flourishes."

The horsemen traveled for a long time and eventually settled in the Ulytau region. Over time, their number increased, and they became a large nation. It is said that it was there that this same orphan later became known as Alasha Khan and was elevated to the Khan's throne.

According to legend, it was in this way that Mayky bi, with his intellect, managed to unite many clans and became one of those who laid the foundations of the future Kazakh people.
