Zhursin Yerman

Zhursin Erman is an iconic figure in Kazakhstani culture, a poet, a publicist, a TV presenter and an organizer of modern Aitysa. Born in 1951 in the village of Kuraily, Ulytau district. His professional path is closely connected with Kazakh journalism and television.

After graduating from the Faculty of Journalism of the Kazakh State University, he began working for the Oktyabr Tuy newspaper, then headed Zhezkazgan Television. In 1982, he became the editor-in-chief of the Kazakh Republican Television, determining the development of national television broadcasting in over 10 years.

Over the years, Yerman held key positions in the editorial offices of the newspapers "Kazakh Adebieti", "Kazakh Memleketi", "Kazakhstan Kanata", was the head of the poetry department of the magazine "Zhuldyz". С

2003 worked at the Eurasian National University, then – in senior positions in the TV and Radio Corporation "Kazakhstan".

Zhursin Yerman made an invaluable contribution to the development of aitys, reviving the tradition and making it a popular genre. Thanks to his efforts, aitys again took an important place in Kazakh culture, gathering millions of viewers.
