Six-year-old Alpamys

Once upon a time, there lived a wealthy man named Zhuzbai. He had a six-year-old son, Alpamys, who, even at an early age, was distinguished by extraordinary courage.
One day, enemies stole their herd. Without a word to anyone, Alpamys saddled his horse, Baishubar, and set off in pursuit.
Meanwhile, the Kalmyk Khan had a disturbing dream. He announced to the people that Zhuzbai's six-year-old son was coming to them and could conquer their lands. Then an old woman and forty girls decided to stop the boy with a trick. They lured Alpamys, drugged him with an intoxicating drink, and threw him into a deep dungeon. They took Baishubar to the Khan.
Time passed. One day, Alpamys saw geese flying by and managed to attach a letter to the wing of one. The bird flew to Lake Kogaly, where it was caught by the batyr's sister, Karlygash. After reading the message, she told Alpamys's friend Karabay everything.
Karabay arrived at the prison with a long silk rope and tried to free his friend. But Alpamys, thinking that he might later remind him of his rescue, cut the rope himself.
Soon, the khan's daughter's goat accidentally fell into the prison. Alpamys promised to return the animal to a visiting shepherd if he brought him one sheep a day. This continued until the shepherd's flock was exhausted.
Then Alpamys taught him to play the flute. Hearing the unusual melody, the khan's daughter began questioning the shepherd and soon learned about the prisoner.
Upon seeing Alpamys, the girl fell in love with him and agreed to help. On his advice, she disguised herself as a beggar and made her way to Baishubar. The horse recognized its master's belt, broke free, and ran to the prison. Lowering its tail, it helped Alpamys escape.
That evening, Alpamys, the khan's daughter, and the shepherd gathered the cattle and set out. Ten days later, they safely reached their homeland.
The story of six-year-old Alpamys shows that even the most difficult situation can be overcome with perseverance, resourcefulness, and the ability to remain hopeful.
