One day, Reason, Knowledge, and Happiness came to Truth to judge them and give each its own assessment.
Truth first addressed Happiness:
"Hey, Happiness! You are fickle. You don't know how to choose where to stay. When you come to a person, sometimes you cloud their vision and sow complacency in their heart. And then one fine day, just as unexpectedly, you leave them and go. If you want to live long and be useful, stay close to Reason."
Then Truth addressed Knowledge:
"Hey, Knowledge! What in this world can compare to your power? If necessary, you can make even black stone boil, make the mute speak, create the unimaginable, and destroy the existing. You strive to comprehend and subjugate the vast world. But with your power, you can lead humanity down both the right path and the wrong one." Therefore, if you want to earn true respect and bring goodness, hold on to Reason and never let go.
Finally, Truth turned to Reason:
"Hey, Reason! There is no better friend than you, neither for a king nor for a common man. But you, too, have one flaw. When Anger comes, you yield your place to it and leave. And when Anger has already managed to ruin everything, you return and begin to suffer, trying to distinguish good from bad and correct what you have done. If you had always held your place and always remained vigilant, perhaps Anger would not have been able to displace you at all."
And then Truth gave all three her blessing:
"Let Reason become a man. Let Knowledge be his steed. Let Happiness be the whip in his hand. If all three are together, you will know neither want nor sorrow." Thus Truth has determined the place of each: the power of Knowledge and the fickleness of Happiness find the right direction only when Reason remains alongside them.
