Zhetysu region is located in the South-east part of Kazakhstan. It was formed in June of 2022 from the territory of the Almaty region. A region is located along the border with China, consists of eight districts and two cities of regional significance.
Alakol lake, the Southeastern coast of Balkhash lake and a small section of the Kapchagay reservoir are located in the Zhetysu region. Also, the region is famous for its Altyn-Emel National Park, which houses a unique Singing Dunes.
Major cities: Taldykorgan and Tekeli.
