Aktobe region is located in the Western part of Kazakhstan and it is the largest region in the country by area. It borders with several regions of Russia and Uzbekistan. In the North, the region borders with the Orenburg region of Russia. In the Northeast, it borders with Kostanay region. In the Southeast, Aktobe region borders with the Ulytau and Kyzylorda regions. In the South, the region borders with the Republic of Karakalpakstan of Uzbekistan. In the West, the region borders with Mangystau, Atyrau and West Kazakhstan regions of Kazakhstan. Also, the Emba, Or and Ilek rivers flow in Aktobe region. The largest cities of Aktobe region are Aktobe, Kandygash, Khromtau and Shalkar.
