70% of the Jury at the 17th Eurasia International Film Festival Are Esteemed International Experts
The Eurasia Film Festival reaffirms its status as the largest cinematic event in Central Asia.
This year, an impressive 70% of the jury consists of distinguished international experts hailing from Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, France, China, Sweden, Russia, and Morocco. This diverse panel highlights the festival's global reach, openness, and its vital role in the world of cinema.
From November 24 to 30, 2024, the 17th Eurasia International Film Festival will welcome a remarkable assembly of filmmakers, actors, screenwriters, and cinema enthusiasts to Almaty. The festival will serve as a vibrant hub for creative collaboration, offering a unique opportunity to exchange expertise, explore emerging trends in the film industry, and inspire innovative approaches to modern filmmaking.
The program features two flagship competitions; the International Competition will be led by the legendary filmmaker and Cannes Palme d’Or laureate, Nuri Bilge Ceylan. Joining him on the jury are Rano Shodiyeva, Nada Azhari Gillon, renowned Kazakhstani director Yerlan Nurmukhambetov, and acclaimed Kyrgyz director Artykpay Suyundukov.
The Central Asia and Turkic World Competition will be chaired by celebrated Chinese director Li Baohua, known for his profound works on cultural heritage. The panel also includes Abdelilah El Jaouhari, Alexey Telnov, and prominent Kazakh producer Zhanna Kuanysheva.
A special highlight is the participation of the NETPAC jury, renowned for its unique insight into Asian cinema. This year, the NETPAC jury features Nina Kochelyaeva, Gulbara Tolomushova, and Andre Raphael Ivanov.
The festival offers a generous prize pool exceeding 20 million tenge, with 4 million tenge awarded to the Grand Prix winner. Film screenings will take place from November 25 to 30 at Kinopark 11 IMAX Esentai cinemas, with free admission for all attendees.
The festival is founded and traditionally organized by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the Kazakhfilm Studio named after Shaken Aimanov entrusted with the direct organization of the event.
It is noteworthy that, sponsors and partners of the festival include the mining company KAZ Minerals, Sarens Kazakhstan, Eurasia Resource Group (ERG), and Astana Motors.
