At the exhibition "The Written heritage of the history of the Great Steppe": treasures of the past and challenges of the present
The National Center for Manuscripts and Rare Books has reopened its doors to history lovers at the exhibition "The Written Heritage of the History of the Great Steppe".
This unique event brought together rare and valuable exhibits of manuscripts and books found on the territory of Kazakhstan and beyond, and also presented the results of archaeological expeditions in 2024.
The exhibition became a real cultural event, focusing on the importance of historical heritage. Among the exhibits were copies of 15 manuscripts and archival documents discovered in the UK, and more than 150 ancient manuscripts and rare books found on the territory of Kazakhstan.
Special attention was drawn to a copy of the holy book of the Koran (X-XII centuries), translated into the Turkic language for the first time, which is an important monument of Turkic-Islamic culture. The exposition also included the works of prominent thinkers Abu Nasir al-Farabi, the Skin of Ahmet Yasawi and Suleiman Bakirgani, as well as the manuscript of the XI century by the Persian historian Gardizi "Zein al-Akhbar".
At the third meeting of the National Kurultai, Kassymzhomart Tokayev stressed the importance of studying and promoting the history of the country, solving language issues and onomastics, as well as preserving historical heritage and memorable places. Special attention was paid to the intensification of work on the return of historical and cultural relics and their copies to Kazakhstan.
One of the key events of the exhibition was the presentation of a new format of the popular science magazine "ULY DALA MURASY" and a catalog album about manuscripts stored in foreign countries, entitled "Valuable written heritage in foreign funds". These publications are designed not only to popularize the historical heritage of Kazakhstan, but also to contribute to its preservation for future generations.
In addition, the participants of the event discussed the importance of collecting national values and preserving them, as well as topical issues arising in this area today. These discussions highlighted the need for joint efforts by all stakeholders to protect and promote Kazakhstan's cultural heritage.
The event was attended by representatives of the Central State Archive, deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan, as well as employees of libraries, archives and public figures.
