The Alakai Puppet Theater was opened in 1985. For almost 40 years of its existence, the puppet theater has staged over 100 productions that gave the children the joy and vivid impressions.
At present, the Alakai Theater is a Laureate of the Foundation of the First President of Kazakhstan, a multiple laureate and diploma winner of National and International Puppet Theater Festivals. The capacity of the auditorium is 200 people. The theater building is equipped with modern lighting and sound equipment.
The repertoire of the theater:
The theater’s repertoire includes more than 40 performances in Russian and Kazakh, in particular: “The Dog” by Nodar Dumbadze, “The Ugly Duckling” by Hans Christian Andersen, “Dwarf Flour” by Wilhelm Gauf, as well as the Kazakh folk tales “Ur, toqpaq!” (“Beat, crochet”), “Legend of the steppes – Oh, Aldar!, “Let go of the reins and fly...”, winner of the international festivals – “Who braids the manes of horses?” by Mark Azov and Vladimir Tikhvinsky.
In 2004, the First International Puppet Theater Festival “Assalaumagaleikum, Alakai!” (“Hello, Alakai”) was held on the basis of the “Alakai” theater with the participation of the theaters of Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Then, the “Assalaumagaleikum” festival took place in 2010, 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2022 years.
In 2015, a book dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the “Assalaumagaleikum, Alakai!” theater was published. To create the new productions and expand the repertoire, the theater actively invites the Russian puppet directors such as S. Zhelezkin, Y. Friedman, G. Gipikov, who have staged more than 10 performances in our theater, as well as conducting the master classes for the professional growth of actors.
Competitive activity of the theater
Since 2018, the children’s theater festival “Aqtobe Erke Theater” has been held at the regional level.
Over the years of its existence, the Alakai Theater has become a laureate of the international competitions, such as:
“Orenburg watermelon” in Orenburg;
“Big Ural — Volga region” in Perm city;
“Ryazan sightings” in Ryazan city;
“Chir Chayan” in Abakan, Khakassia;
“The workhorse” in Naberezhnye Chelny, Tatarstan;
“Tea party in Mytishchi”, Mytishchi city;
“Golden Mask” in Moscow city;
“Chodari Khayel” in Dushanbe, Tajikistan;
“Petrushka the Great” in Yekaterinburg city;
“String” in Ufa city;
“Nowruz” in Kazan city;
“Rabbit-warren” in Ivanovo city.
Also, the theater has participated in the theater competitions in Croatia, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey and Serbia.
The achievements made give the staff of the Alakai Aktobe Regional Puppet Theater even more inspiration for the creativity.
