Zhambyl Regional Library for blind and Visually impaired citizens

The Special Library is a leisure and social center for people with special needs.

The library receives 3,000 readers annually, and about 120 cultural events are held. Thus, 484 visually impaired people are registered in the regional special library, as well as students of the Bolashak boarding school for blind and visually impaired children.

Special programs have been purchased: a typhoid computer kit and a 4x4 PRO Braille printer, DBT Win 10. SU1 - the DUXBARRY system (six-point L. Braille), access to the publication of books and the release of various editions in Braille.

With the help of this device, works of art by Kazakhstani authors, books related to the anniversaries of local poets and writers, methodological manuals are published in Braille, provided to blind readers and distributed in the service departments of blind readers of district libraries. Since 2014, 1,155 copies of books in Braille have been released. There is also a SARA CE reading machine (camera version) in the library.

This device is designed for scanning book and printed materials, and is also accompanied by a voice-over function in Kazakh, English and Russian.

Relief-graphic techniques on various topics were also produced and presented using the tactile-graphic device "PIAF". Tactile books for children are published quarterly as part of the Special Books for Special Children project.

To improve the quality of services provided to readers, and to quickly search for books in the library, the AIS AK RK program for special libraries has been installed. To search for the necessary documents, reference and search information is filled in, compiled from traditional card catalogs and card files, prepared using relief-dot and flat-print fonts. The library's Book Collection (ASSBRK) is fully integrated into the program for special libraries.

To attract blind readers to the library who cannot come to the library, the "Home Reader" service works.

The responsible librarian delivers relief-point, electronic and voiced literature twice a month at the request of readers, as well as book exchange.

The Typhlology department hosts a Braille section that teaches reading and writing in the Braille system, as well as classes on the computer course "Blind and Computer" for blind and visually impaired users. The training course consists of 20 lessons.
