The history of creation. In 1973, the regional universal library opened its doors to readers of the region.

In 1980, the city's libraries were moved to one center: 268 libraries were combined into 12 centralized library systems.

In 1990, the library was moved to a new building at 9a Esenberlin Street, with a total area of 1,436 square meters.

The regional library provided methodological assistance to 295 libraries.

In 2010, in accordance with the resolution "on the reorganization of libraries", it was transformed into the KSU "Centralized Library System", which included 11 libraries.

On January 4, 2023, the KSU "Regional Universal Library of the Ulytau region" was established. The library includes 55 libraries, including 1 regional, 13 city, 5 district, 36 rural libraries. Central Library of Zhezkazgan, Central Library named after B. Bulkyshev of Satpayev, children's and Youth library of Satpayev, Central Library of Karazhal, Central Library named after S. Seifullin of Zhanaarkinsky district, Central Library of Ulytau district.

The library's collection in the region is 869641. In the state language 503368. The fund of the Regional Library is 47440, in the state language 16583 copies. Electronic publications in the region-643, in the regional library-79 copies.


Rare fund – 94 copies.

One of the unique works of the foundation is several new books written in Braille. 7 copies of the book in 9 copies, written in Braille, in the official language. In particular, the books of Torezhanov M. "Alippe", Mikhailyukov Z. "Louis Braille's Six Points of discovery of the blind wide paths to the world of knowledge" and other fiction.


1000 Kazakh traditional kuys ", 100 Kazakh traditional songs, Kazakh Batyr songs, " ABC of Wisdom ", "ABC of Abai studies " and special encyclopedias of modern type 3d, 4d: Khomich E. "Dinosaurs:4D Encyclopedia in augmented Reality". The fund is very rare, with a collection of books from 1869 to the present. 


The collections of rare books include books by scientists who studied the Kazakh land, including Zhezkazgan, Ulytau, Balkhash, the oldest in terms of dates, "literature for theoretical study" by V. Stoyunina, published in 1869 in St. Petersburg "Eduard Pratsa", a collection of poems by M. Auezov "Abai", published in 1944 year and other books. Also, the fund of rare books includes books of various formats: small-format, large-format and thick books. Large books are classified as "giant" or "folios". Their format is 38x50cm. For example: "Marine Atlas". The smallest book in the fund is Juna's book "Poetry and Life" and the book "Orders and Medals of the USSR". Their format is 5x7cm. The thickest book by N. Pavlovsky is The Russian-German Dictionary. The thickness is 8cm, 1774 pages.
