Zhetisu region was re-established on June 8, 2022 in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 4, 2022. By dividing the Aksu, Alakol, Eskeldinsky, Karatal, Kerbulak, Koksu, Panfilov, Sarkand districts, the cities of Taldykorgan and Tekeli, the administrative center came under the jurisdiction of the Zhetisu region, located in the city of Taldykorgan.
There are 147 libraries in the region, 1 regional library, 8 district libraries, 6 urban libraries, 124 rural libraries, and 8 children's libraries.
In connection with the separation of the two regions, by a decree of September 8, 2022, the state institution "Department of Culture, Archives and Documentation of the Zhetisu region" re-established the municipal state institution "Central Library named after S.Seifullin of the Zhetisu region".
