The Kasteev Museum of Art reopens after renovations.

The Abylkhan Kasteev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan resumes its work after a major renovation. Today, the museum was visited by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva.

The comprehensive modernization, carried out thanks to the personal support of the Head of State, in a relatively short time, was aimed at creating modern conditions for storing and exhibiting works of art.

Aida Balayeva personally got acquainted with the results of the repair work: the interior and roof were renovated, floor coverings were replaced, engineering systems were modernized, and climate control was installed. As a result, the country's main art gallery meets modern international standards and is ready to implement international-level exhibition projects.

Parallel to the renovation, the museum's specialists updated the expositions. In addition to the masterpieces of Kazakh and world art already familiar to the public, new sections are presented: an exhibition of graphic works by Evgeny Sidorkin, an exhibition "Female Images in Kazakh Art", an expanded block of art from the period of Kazakhstan's independence, as well as a section of new acquisitions of foreign art from the late XX - early XXI centuries.

It is noteworthy that the resumption of the museum's work coincided with two anniversaries: the 90th anniversary of the museum and the 50th anniversary of the building in which the gallery has been located since 1976.

The modernization project was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The repair work was made possible thanks to the interaction of government agencies, the museum staff and partners, including the Kazakhstan Investment Holding "Samruk-Kazyna" and the Public Fund "Senim Qogamy".
