The creation of a young Kazakh choreographer conquered the audience in St. Petersburg

His author's miniature "Mankurt" to the music of Aktota Raimkulova received high praise from ballet critics, and the audience enthusiastically said that Kazakh artists surpassed everyone on the stage. Boris Eifman, the legendary choreographer and organizer of the festival, also expressed his recognition.

The number "Mankurt" was performed by artists of the Astana Opera Galymzhan Nurmukhamet and Kamila Ormanova, and Sultanbek himself came on stage with the number "Kyly Zaman" to the music of the ethno-folklore ensemble "Turan".

"This is my first experience of participating in such a festival as a choreographer. The organizers and spectators welcomed us very warmly. We received praise from ballet critics from Moscow and St. Petersburg, Olga Rozanova and Pavel Yaschenkov. They noted the originality of the numbers "Mankurt" and "Kyly Zaman", presented by the artists of the Astana Opera. Long familiar with the story of Chingiz Aitmatov "Naiman Ana", which depicts the image of Mankurt, they expressed delight at how the choreographer was able to convey such a complex topic. Ballet scholars also recalled the huge success of our troupe on the stage of the Kremlin Palace with the ballet by B. Asafiev "The Fountain of Bakhchisarai", which took place 2 years ago. And this time they again noted the high level of our troupe under the leadership of Altynai Asylmuratova", – shared Sultanbek Gumar.

Ballet critics hope to see performances by Kazakh artists more often, as they are confident that Sultanbek Gumar will create many more significant productions as a choreographer in the future. The Boris Eifman Dance Academy also offered the young choreographer cooperation.

Recall that in the final of the festival "Young Choreographer" together with Kazakh artists, choreographers and dancers from Russia, Belarus and China demonstrated their skills.

"I want to express my gratitude to my colleagues – soloists of the Astana Opera Galymzhan Nurmukhamet and Kamila Ormanova for the brilliant performance of the number "Mankurt". I have long dreamed of presenting the theme of Mankurt from the works of Ch. Aitmatov and "Kyly Zaman" M. Auezov at such an international level. We received great inspiration from the festival. In addition, it was very useful to gain new knowledge and experience in matters of theatrical lighting design. The Boris Eifman Dance Academy, as it turned out, has a special faculty, which trains lighting designers. This is very important for choreographers, because with the help of light you can convey all the ideas and characters of the heroes. I would like a faculty to open in our country that trains such specialists at a professional level," – summarized Sultanbek Gumar.

It is important to note that already in December of this year, Sultanbek Gumar will delight fans with new author's numbers "Aralym" and "Alem", which will be presented on the stage of the "Astana Opera" as part of the premiere of the gala program Nomad Ballet.
