Premiere of the comic opera "Aisulu" will be held in Astana

The production will be presented in the best traditions of Kazakh opera art. Conductor-director People's Artist of Kazakhstan Abzal Mukhitdin is working on a new musical edition.

"In the process of preparation, we analyzed the scores of several old productions, reworked the musical material and created an opera that accurately reflects the historical context and style of the 60-70s. This is a light comic opera, which used to resemble an operetta in its structure, but now we are striving to turn it into a work of a more complex genre. At the same time, the particular difficulty lies in maintaining the ease of perception, so that the scale of the work done remains invisible to the viewer. The play will involve mainly young artists, for whom this will be a real challenge, because they did not see the Soviet era. They have to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of that time, and our task is to explain, suggest, tell all the subtleties. Together with me, a well-coordinated team of professionals who have been cooperating with the theater for a long time is working on the opera. Talented set designers Sofya Tasmagambetova and Pavel Dragunov are engaged in artistic design. However, the key role here is still played by the interaction of the director and the conductor, because it is on this tandem that the harmony of the entire production depends", - explained Abzal Mukhitdin.

The director will be Erenbak Toikenov, who seeks to convey the comedy character of the work through lively and dynamic directorial finds.

"The story begins with Serke's arrival at the Almaty railway station, where he, a young man from a collective farm, hopes to try his luck for the second time to enter the university - now through acquaintances. A real train appears on the stage, from which Serke descends, immersing himself in the atmosphere of a big city. At the station, many passengers read a newspaper article about the young Komsomol member Aisulu. Her portrait on the front page and an inspiring story won the hearts of the townspeople. A meeting with a newspaper seller leads Serke to a banquet dedicated to the celebration of Hasan's dissertation defense, where he meets him and his friend - the city student Aubakir. Music and champagne make Serke's head spin, and he tells his new acquaintances about Aisulu, a beautiful girl from his native collective farm. Impressed by what they heard, Hasen and Aubakir decide to go to the collective farm at night to find her. In the second act, the action is transferred to the village, where naive urban youths become victims of a fun prank staged by Aisulu's sisters - Nursulu and Zhansulu, as well as the chairman of the collective farm. Lovers, but confused in intrigues, they finally meet the real Aisulu, and a conflict arises, which is soon resolved: all three couples find each other and celebrate weddings in a joyful finale", - says director Erenbak Toikenov.

Honored Workers of Kazakhstan Sofya Tasmagambetova and Pavel Dragunov create a unique stage space that reflects the life of Kazakh youth, which has become the central theme of the opera. This visual range will be complemented by the bright work of lighting designer Sergei Shevchenko and video projections by Pavel Suvorov. Artists of the opera troupe are working on the main parts, choir scenes are being rehearsed by choir artists under the direction of the chief choirmaster, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Erzhan Dautov. While the choreographer-director of mass scenes Bostan Kozhabekov, together with the artists, are trying to add dynamism and energy of youth to the action, which permeates the entire opera.
