Over 120 thousand spectators, three premieres and international tours: "Astana Opera" concludes its XIII theatre season

The Astana Opera Theatre is concluding its XIII theatrical season. More than 120 thousand spectators have already attended its productions and projects. During the season, the theatre presented three premieres, organized 60 exhibitions, expanded its touring geography, and opened a second stage at the Palace of Peace and Accord.

The main event was the world premiere of the national opera "Appak – Daughter of Kipchak," created by Serikzhan and Alibi Abdinurov specially for Astana Opera. There were also premieres of Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Rigoletto" and the ballet "Four Secrets of Eternity" staged by Sultanbek Gumar.

The International Festival "Operalia-2026" brought together three venues, about 18 thousand spectators, and artists from more than ten countries over one and a half months. The ballet company presented "Coppélia" at the Royal Opera House Muscat, performed in Almaty and Sochi, and the opera company toured in Pavlodar and Aktobe.

Soloists of the theatre performed on leading foreign stages, and projects featuring famous performers and collectives, including Diana Vishneva, Albina Shagimuratova, and Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre, were presented in Astana.

Special attention was paid to the national musical heritage. The season opened with the opera "Abay," and projects dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ermek Serkebayev, the anniversaries of Akhmet Zhubanov and Latif Khamidi, as well as charity and educational events, were held.

The concluding event of the XIII theatrical season will be Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Don Carlos." The performances on July 11 and 12, conducted by Alan Buribaev, will also summarize the International Festival "Operalia-2026."
