"My previous exhibition was in Astana ten years ago at the Khas Sanat Gallery. And for the last 10 years, I practically haven't exhibited in my homeland. Exhibitions were held in London, Warsaw, Moscow, and Rome. And I thought that the moment had come to share what has been created in recent years. This is my work, which is dedicated to Tengrianism - the cult of harmony between man and nature, the cultural code of the Kazakhs. We must not forget our roots. If earlier a century was measured by a century, now the same development takes place in a decade. And in such a time, we must not lose this code. Our ancestors were wise people. Their worldview, traditions, customs are a very ancient unique culture. They lived in harmony with nature, which is very important," said Rafael Slekhenov.
The author presented works created over the past five years at the exhibition. Rafael Slekhenov is a member of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan, a laureate of the "Tarlan" prize, a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture of Poland, and a corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of Kazakhstan. The idea of the exhibition is to show and remind viewers of the beauty of purity and the importance of the simplicity of the human soul. The author believes that a person is able to see the beauty of the world around them by changing their lifestyle.
"The world has changed so much that now a person has become a recycler, a collector. But let's believe in the best. I strived to make my art evoke positive emotions, call for a bright future. You could say that I have always, with all my essence, been a Tengrian. We lived in a village in childhood, in nature, without a color television. I am a person from the last century. And I got to see how the era changed, how people moved into the age of digitalization. And therefore, these topics concern me," said Rafael Slekhenov.
The exhibition allows visitors to plunge into the magical world of the author. The master's works show childish spontaneity, a vision of life through a rainbow prism, bright colors, instilling hope in everyone who visited and discovered the "Light of Tengri" for themselves.
The exhibition at the National Museum in Astana is presented in the temporary exhibition hall on the 5th floor and will last until June 18, 2024.
