Today, the Zhambyl Kazakh State Academic Philharmonic hosted the premiere of Francis Poulenc's monoopera "The Human Voice," performed in Kazakh for the first time.
The work is based on a play by Jean Cocteau. It has previously been performed in English, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Ukrainian, and sign language. Kazakh is the latest addition to this list.
In 2023, the play was staged under the title "Dauys" at the M. Auezov Kazakh National Drama Theater. The translation was by People's Artist of Kazakhstan Tungyshbay Zhamankulov, and the production was directed by Barzu Abdurazakov.
This new interpretation is presented as a monoopera, accompanied by a symphony orchestra. The title role, played by Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Dariya Zhusip, who previously performed this role in the dramatic version of the work, is performed as the main and only heroine. Vocal preparation was provided by teacher and singer Galina Karamoldaeva.
Musical accompaniment was provided by the T. Abdrashev State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Kazakhstan, conducted by Kanat Omarov. The production was directed by Farkhat Moldagali. At the conclusion of the event, the creative team was presented with flowers on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
