State theaters in Kazakhstan continue to expand their repertoire, present new productions, and attract audiences to national and world theatrical art. In the current theater season, hundreds of premieres have taken place on the country's stages, covering drama, opera, ballet, musical comedy, children's, and youth productions.
Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pays special attention to the development of culture and art, strengthening national identity, and supporting creative teams. One confirmation of this work was the instruction to grant the Maxim Gorky State Academic Russian Drama Theater the status of "National", and the Sabit Mukanov North Kazakhstan Regional Kazakh Musical Drama Theater the status of "Academic".
Along with raising the status of leading creative teams, the theatrical infrastructure continues to be updated. Work is underway to reconstruct the buildings of the Mukhtar Auezov Kazakh National Drama Theater and the Natalia Sats State Academic Russian Theater for Children and Youth.
