The nationwide Nauryznam Decade begins in Kazakhstan

From March 14 to 23, Kazakhstan will host the nationwide Nauryznama Decade. This format has quickly become an important part of the Nauryz celebrations, combining historical traditions, cultural agendas, public initiatives, and modern formats for engaging with residents.

The new format for Nauryz celebrations was approved in 2024 at the initiative of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. It builds on the historical tradition in which Nauryz was perceived not as a one-day celebration, but as a time for gatherings, good deeds, renewal, and strengthening of social harmony.

This year, over 10,000 events are planned across the country. Each day of Nauryznama is dedicated to a different theme, reflecting the key values of society.

March 14 – "Körіsu kïnі – Amal merekesі," a day of meetings and warm greetings.

March 15 – "Kayyrymdylyk kunі," dedicated to compassion and mutual assistance.

March 16 – "Mәdeniet zhәne ұlttyқ salt-dәstүr kunі," Day of Culture and National Traditions.

March 17 – "Shаңырақ kunі," dedicated to family and the continuity of generations.

March 18 – "Ұлттық киім күні," emphasizing the importance of national clothing as part of cultural identity.

March 19 – "Жаңару күні," a symbol of renewal and creation.

March 20 – "Ұлттық спорт күні," aimed at popularizing national sports and traditional games.

March 21st is "Yntymaq kunі," a day of unity and solidarity.

March 22nd is "Zhyl basy," the main day of the Nauryz holiday, symbolizing the beginning of a new year, renewal, and abundance.

The decade of "Tazaru kunі," dedicated to cleanliness, environmental awareness, and respect for the environment, concludes on March 23rd.

A special place in the Nauryznama program is occupied by events organized by national cultural organizations. During the decade, museums, theaters, concert organizations, and cultural centers will host exhibitions, concerts, festivals, theatrical performances, charity events, cultural and educational meetings, and thematic projects dedicated to national traditions, family values, national dress, art, sports, and the idea of renewal. The program combines both traditional formats and modern interactive solutions aimed at promoting the nation's rich historical and cultural heritage.

The country's regions have also actively participated in the celebrations. Concerts, festivals, theatrical performances, exhibitions, fairs, family and youth events, national sports competitions, and environmental initiatives will be held in regional centers and cities. In particular, Astana will host the "Tartys Fest" national games festival, featuring artificial intelligence; Almaty will host the "Az-Nauryz – Almaty Törіndë" concert and the "Nauryz Vibes" festival, featuring AI photo zones and an immersive LED tunnel; Shymkent will host the "Zharapazan Fest" national festival and the "Robo-shaңyraқ" family competition; Aktobe Oblast will host the "Dastur-fest" festival and the "Ulttyқ Kiіm – Ult AYNASY" cultural program; and Mangystau Oblast will host festive events featuring digital exhibitions, robotics, and interactive technologies.

Nauryznama today is not just a holiday calendar, but a large-scale nationwide cultural initiative aimed at strengthening unity, popularizing traditions, and promoting the nation's rich historical and cultural heritage. Through a combination of centuries-old customs and modern formats, the holiday continues to be established as a symbol of renewal, mutual respect, and shared progress.
