On March 18, Kazakhstan celebrates "Ulttyk Kiim Kunі," the fifth day of the nationwide Nauryznama decade. This day is dedicated to national dress as an important element of cultural identity, reflecting the history, traditions, and aesthetic values of the people. National dress serves not only as a material heritage but also as a symbol of the continuity of generations and respect for one's roots.
The program centers on events organized by national cultural organizations. The National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan is hosting the exhibition "Ulttyk Kiim – Ult Mәdenietіnің Zharқyn Kөrіnіsі," which explores the characteristics of traditional dress and its cultural significance. The Center for the Rapprochement of Cultures is organizing a thematic event, "Ulttyk Kiimderdі Ulyktaiyk," aimed at popularizing national dress. The Abylkhan Kasteyev State Museum of Arts is hosting a fashion show featuring ethnic designer fashion, featuring modern interpretations of traditional costume. In Almaty, an exhibition of national costumes is also being held in the foyer of the Schoolchildren's Palace, with the participation of the Natalia Sats State Academic Russian Theater for Children and Youth.
Festive events are also spreading across the country. Various cities are hosting national costume parades, challenges, themed events, and flash mobs featuring youth and creative groups. National costume shows and cultural programs are being organized in the Aktobe region, a challenge to popularize traditional clothing is being held in the Akmola region, themed festivals and competitions are being held in the Karaganda region, and projects using modern technology aimed at showcasing national costumes in digital format are being held in the Mangystau region. Thus, “Ұлттық киім күні” within the framework of Nauryznama emphasizes the importance of national clothing as part of the cultural code of the people and contributes to its popularization in modern public life, combining traditions and modern forms of self-expression.
