On the stage of the Astana Ballet Theatre, the premiere of the two-act ballet “Two Carpets” took place. The production is based on an ancient Azerbaijani legend about the Shirvan carpet and tells a story of life and love reflected in the ornaments and symbols of traditional art. At the center of the plot is Leila, a carpet weaver whose fate and inner world are expressed through her craft.

The project is the result of collaboration between two teams — the Astana Ballet Theatre and MOSAIC DEL ARTE. According to the theatre’s Artistic Director, Nurlan Kanetov, this work demonstrates a high level of professional cooperation and cultural exchange between creative groups.

The ballet combines elements of Eastern and Western stage traditions, merging music, movement, and visual imagery. The premiere became one of the most significant events of the theatre’s current season.
