On June 5, 2025, the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Chinese Art of Ideas - Masterpieces from the National Museum of China" was held at the Abylkhan Kasteev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan, organized jointly with the National Art Museum of China.
The exhibition features about 50 paintings, graphic works and sculptures created by outstanding Chinese artists of the XX-XXI centuries. The works are executed in various techniques: traditional Chinese ink painting, watercolor, gouache, as well as modern sculpture, reflecting the artistic tradition of Xieyi.
One of the outstanding contemporary sculptors of China is Wu Weishan, known as an artist and public figure. Three of his sculptural works represent portrait images of iconic historical figures of China - Lao Tzu, Qi Bai Shi, a famous poet. Working in bronze, the author reveals the character of the character through a mobile form and strengthening of the surface texture, spontaneous stylistics, reminiscent of the fundamental principle of creating calligraphy.
It should be noted that in 2018 the Abylkhan Kasteev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan joined the International Alliance of Museums and Galleries of the Silk Road. The exhibition project "Chinese Art of Ideas - Masterpieces from the National Museum of China" is part of significant exchange cultural programs to promote national art. For the Kazakhstan viewer, this is an opportunity to get acquainted with examples of Chinese art, presented by the leading art museum in Beijing.
The exhibition will last until August 3, 2025.
