An exhibition titled “Steppe Ornamentation in Metal” opened at the National Museum

The exhibition "Steppe Ornamentation in Metal" was presented at the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, bringing together about 150 artifacts from the archeology funds collected over the past three years. The exposition includes materials from the Bronze Age of the XIII-X centuries BC, the early Iron Age of the VIII BC - V AD, as well as monuments of the Turkic Middle Ages of the VI-XIV centuries.

Visitors can see women's jewelry, bronze mirrors, belt buckles, elements of horse equipment, cauldrons and censers, reflecting the artistic and mythological traditions of steppe societies. Special attention is drawn to objects made in the Saka "animal style" - one of the most recognizable phenomena of world art of the early nomadic period.

A significant part of the exposition is devoted to objects with solar symbols of the Bronze Age, where the circle and the cross were key signs of cosmogonic ideas. These artifacts allow us to trace how the ornamental system and the semantics of images changed under the influence of cultural and social processes.

A separate block presents a private collection, including materials from the VIII BC - XII AD, collected by researcher Anton Shatokhin. It demonstrates the wide geography of finds and the diversity of artistic traditions of ancient and medieval Zhetysu.
