The Russian Film Festival kicked off in Astana as part of the Days of Russian Culture in Kazakhstan.

The Russian Film Festival, held as part of the Days of Russian Culture in Kazakhstan, has opened in Astana. The film program will run until April 26 and is aimed at further developing cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
Opening the event, ROSKINO General Director Elza Antonova read a greeting from Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova.
"The Russian Film Festival in Kazakhstan is an important event uniting our countries through art and cinema. This event will become another significant platform for developing international cultural exchange and further fruitful cooperation between our peoples," the greeting stated.
Elza Antonova emphasized that ROSKINO holds Russian film festivals annually in various countries, but the festival in Kazakhstan holds a special place. According to her, the program includes films that are currently in active distribution in Russia, have already received a wide audience response, and represent contemporary Russian cinema in its genre diversity.
Acting President of JSC Kazakhfilm named after Aidar Omarov, Director of the Sh. Aimanova Film Festival, noted that such projects consistently strengthen bilateral cultural ties and create additional opportunities for promoting national cinema.
The opening film was the sports drama "First on Olympus." Over the course of four days, seven Russian films of various genres, designed for a wide audience, will be shown free of charge. The festival program also includes "The Aviator," "Buratino," "Cheburashka 2," "Red Silk," "Three Cats. A Journey Through Time," and "August."
The festival also includes meetings with representatives of the creative delegation and master classes for Kazakhstani students in creative fields. Actress Daria Kukarskaya, who starred in "The Aviator," and actor Anton Savvatimov, who played a role in "First on Olympus," will present their films to the audience.
