A roundtable discussion on "Sherkhan Murtaza's Work in Kazakh Culture" was held at the National Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan in honor of National Press Day. Representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, government and public figures, scholars, journalists, archival specialists, and the writer's contemporaries participated in the event.
During the meeting, a welcome letter from Aida Balayeva, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Minister of Culture and Information, was read.
"Sherkhan Murtaza, as a figure who reflected the uniqueness of the Kazakh people through artistic expression, always placed national interests above all else. He viewed journalism as a means of serving the nation. The school of Kazakh press he established, his exacting standards, and his diligence as an editor contributed to the development of an entire generation of professionals and highly responsible citizens. "The systematization and scientific presentation of the personal documents of this outstanding intellectual in the country's National Archives and their transformation into national treasures is an event of exceptional historical significance. This is an important step in preserving national memory," the welcoming letter stated.
The roundtable included an exhibition of rare documents and manuscripts, notebooks, photographs, and books from Sherkhan Murtaza's personal collection, which were donated to the National Archives for safekeeping. His special place in the development of the Kazakh press and national journalism, as well as his civic stance, were also noted.
