National Dombra Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in July. Established in 2018 at the initiative of the President, the holiday aims to strengthen national identity, awaken youth interest in traditional culture, and preserve the continuity of generations.

This year, Dombra Day falls during a special period for the country – following the entry into force of the new Constitution. The updated Basic Law opens a new stage in the state's development, in which national unity, respect for history, cultural heritage, and spiritual values are particularly important.
Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of the dombra in the spiritual life of the nation. According to the President, National Dombra Day highlights the uniqueness of the Kazakh people and uplifts the spirit of the younger generation.
"Nagyz Kazakh – dombyra," the President remarked, emphasizing that the dombra, as a sacred treasure, is destined to become Kazakhstan's unique brand worldwide.
Festive events will span Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, and all regions of the country. Concerts, festivals, and mass cultural projects will feature professional creative groups, orchestras of national instruments, and young performers.
A concert dedicated to National Dombra Day will be held at the Astana Amphitheater on July 5. In Almaty, festivities will be held at several outdoor venues. The Kurmangazy Kazakh National Orchestra of Folk Instruments will perform on Arbat Street, near the Alatau Traditional Arts Theater, and in Central Park. The Saltanat State Dance Ensemble of the Republic of Kazakhstan will present the concert "Kumbirlye Dombyra, Zhasai Ber Astana."
In Shymkent, the concert program will take place in Shym City Park. The program features a special international focus: National Dombra Day will also be celebrated in Beijing. The Cultural Center of Kazakhstan will organize a Dombra Party on the Liangma River embankment, introducing traditional Kazakh art to international audiences. National events include the "Kuy Kudіretі" dombra competition in the Turkestan region, the 3rd national dombra competition "Syr Tolkyny" in the Kyzylorda region, the national dombra competition "Asemmqoңyr" dedicated to the 165th anniversary of Dina Nurpeisova, and the 5th international festival "Quzyljar Music Fest" in the North Kazakhstan region.
A separate focus of the festive program will be the national #dombrakuni challenge, which will take place on July 4 at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Information. Everyone is invited to post videos up to one minute long on social media with the hashtag #dombrakuni, dedicated to the sound of the dombra, national art, and the festive atmosphere.
