The art exhibition "My Favorite City," prepared by members of the Almaty Center for Active Ageing, opened at the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The exhibition features paintings and graphic works by 35 artists. The canvases depict familiar streets, architectural monuments, quiet courtyards, parks, squares, and natural landscapes. Through these images, the exhibitors convey their personal perception of the city, their memories, and their warm feelings for their native places.
At the opening ceremony, welcoming remarks were given by A. Akhmanov, Deputy Director of the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan; S. Beketayeva, Director of the Almaty Center for Active Ageing, Honored Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and recipient of the "Kurmet" Order; and M. Kantarbayev, Vice President of the Academy of Arts.
M. Nysanbayev, a graphic artist, watercolorist, member of the Artists' Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Georgia, and Vice President of the Academy of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan, also congratulated the participants. The exhibition "My Favorite City" demonstrates the important place creativity plays in people's lives at any age. Art helps us preserve memories, express feelings, appreciate the beauty of everyday life, and share personal stories through color, line, and image.
The project has become not only an artistic event but also an example of active longevity, creative energy, and a caring attitude toward urban memory.
