At the Kurmangazy Conservatory, the premiere of the opera "Abay" took place.

The premiere of the opera "Abai" took place in the Grand Concert Hall named after E. Rakhmadiev of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory.

The four-act work in five scenes, created by composers Akhmet Zhubanov and Latyf Khamidi to the libretto by Mukhtar Auezov, was presented by students of the Vocal Art Department. The production is dedicated to the anniversary dates of outstanding figures of Kazakh culture – Akhmet Zhubanov, Latyf Khamidi, Kauken Kenzhetayev, and Ermek Serkebayev.

The opera "Abai" holds a special place in the history of Kazakh musical art. In the work, the image of Abai Kunanbayev is revealed through a combination of Kazakh folk musical tradition and classical opera school.

The performance was accompanied by a grand piano with the participation of students from the Vocal Art Department. The premiere continued the traditions of the Kazakh vocal school and allowed young performers to present one of the iconic works of national opera classics.
