
A grand opening ceremony of the international traveling exhibition "Magnificent Silk: Contemporary Chinese Silk Art" took place at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event was attended by the Vice-Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aibek Sydykov. He read a congratulatory letter from the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aida Balaeva.
The address noted that culture is an important force that brings peoples closer, strengthens mutual understanding and trust, and opens new opportunities for international cooperation. It was also emphasized that Kazakhstan and China are connected by centuries-old friendly relations and the common historical heritage of the Great Silk Road.
The exhibition is organized jointly with the China National Silk Museum, Huzhou Museum, and Turpan Museum. The exposition introduces visitors to China's rich cultural heritage in silk art, the artistic features of traditional crafts, and modern trends in the development of silk art.
The exhibition presents about 100 works by masters of decorative and applied arts, artists, and fashion designers. Visitors can see the best examples of traditional silk weaving, embroidery, dyeing, and artistic printing, as well as modern creative interpretations of ancient craft techniques.
As part of the event, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Turpan Museum of the People's Republic of China signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation.
The document aims to develop long-term partnership in museum affairs, implement joint exhibition and research projects, exchange experience among museum specialists, and expand cooperation in the field of preserving, studying, and popularizing cultural heritage.
The exhibition will run until September 20.
