Amanzhol Altay: "The uniqueness of each region is our national treasure"

As part of the national Creative Aimaq project, the Qazaq Creative Hub in Astana hosted the Ulytau region's creative fair, "Heritage of the Golden Horde," on July 18-19. A special guest at the event was Amanzhol Altay, a renowned figure in Kazakh aitys art and scholar who viewed the works of regional artisans.
While viewing the exhibition, Amanzhol Altay praised the works of folk artisans, which reflect the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Ulytau region. He noted that the distinctiveness of each region shapes the richness of national culture and preserves the continuity of centuries-old traditions.
"Despite the fact that we are one people, each region has its own unique characteristics. The Ulytau region has many unique features that distinguish it from other regions. The art of our blacksmiths, woodworkers, and artisans is a living continuation of traditions that have evolved over centuries. Today, these unique products are taking on a new meaning and successfully developing in line with modern requirements. Ulytau is the sacred land of the Kazakh people, the cradle of our history. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my fellow countrymen who came to the capital to worthily present and promote our national heritage,” noted Amanzhol Altay.
About 60 creators from the Ulytau region—artisans, jewelers, designers, and representatives of creative professions—participated in the fair. They presented original products in national style, works of decorative and applied art, ethnic design, and other unique works reflecting the cultural identity of the region. Visitors also enjoyed master classes in leatherworking, artistic wood carving, blacksmithing, making national musical instruments, jewelry, and other arts and crafts, allowing them to gain a closer understanding of the traditions of Kazakh handicrafts.
The national Creative Aimaq project is an effective platform for developing regional creative industries, supporting domestic creative entrepreneurs, promoting Kazakhstani creative brands, and popularizing the country's rich cultural heritage.
By the end of the year, residents and visitors to the capital will be able to discover the cultural diversity, creative potential, and unique products of all regions of Kazakhstan.
