An international exhibition, "The Secret of Celestial Glaze," dedicated to the historical and cultural heritage of Turkestan and the spiritual legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, has opened at the National Museum of the History of Azerbaijan in Baku. The exhibition was prepared by the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Aziret Sultan" of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The project was implemented within the framework of the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to study, preserve, and internationally present the legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. The exhibition was organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.
The exhibition features authentic 12th-century terracotta tiles, fragments of 14th-century glazed tiles, majolica and mosaic elements, as well as photographs depicting Kufic inscriptions and Arabic script from the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. Special attention is given to the mausoleum's architecture and epigraphy.
The exhibition's central feature is two models of the Khoja Ahmed Yasawi Mausoleum. One demonstrates the complex's internal structure and the layout of its main rooms, while the other showcases its holistic architectural appearance.
A separate section is dedicated to the spiritual and intellectual legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. Manuscripts and historical materials, the "Nasabnama" (genealogy), and the works of Yasawi's followers, reflecting the influence of his teachings on the spiritual traditions of the Turkic peoples, are on display.
During the event, a memorandum of cooperation was also signed between the "Aziret Sultan" National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve and the National Museum of the History of Azerbaijan. The document provides for collaboration in the preservation and study of cultural heritage, the exchange of specialists, and the implementation of joint scientific and cultural projects. The exhibition aims to develop museum cooperation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan and popularize the historical and cultural heritage of Turkestan internationally.
