The creative potential of the Karaganda region was showcased in Astana.

On October 17–18, the Qazaq Creative Hub in the capital hosted the Karaganda Region Creative Fair, bringing together over 80 artists, designers, artisans, entrepreneurs, and innovative project developers. Visitors were treated to original paintings, jewelry, national clothing, designer collections, carpets, ceramics, and handicrafts.
From coal products to industrial 3D technologies
One of the highlights of the exhibition was the combination of the Karaganda Region's industrial heritage with modern technologies. Of particular interest are the coal artworks, which demonstrate the unusual uses of this traditional regional material. Along with the artwork, visitors can learn about industrial developments, including 3D printing technologies used in medicine and manufacturing. These solutions are used to create anatomical models and durable polymer parts that can, in some cases, replace metal counterparts.
Components manufactured using this technology are supplied, among other companies, to Qarmet. The technology section of the exhibition also features projects in the fields of information technology, artificial intelligence, and unmanned systems.
Miniatures from Balkhash and a Modern Interpretation of National Crafts
Among the most unusual exhibits are works by a microminiature artist from Balkhash. Impressively precise, these compositions are so small that they fit within the eye of a needle. The artist's collection includes works that have achieved world-record recognition.
A significant portion of the fair is devoted to traditional crafts and contemporary design. Visitors can see the decorative pillow "Kyzdyn Zhasauy," which the organizers present as a record-breaking work, as well as artistic metalwork, national household items, and designer accessories. Karaganda artisans also showcased fine felt clothing, combining traditional crafting techniques with modern cuts and practicality. The Abay Sewing Factory presented a collection of outerwear, including new jacket models. Book Presentation by Karipbek Kuyukov
One of the highlights of the fair was the presentation of the books "Kaisar Rukh" and "Life Without Arms" by renowned Kazakhstani artist Karipbek Kuyukov. Born without arms, the artist has gained international recognition for his paintings and active social activism.
Karipbek Kuyukov is also known as a member of the international anti-nuclear movement "Nevada-Semey." His work explores themes of human resilience, peace, and the consequences of nuclear testing. In addition to the book presentation, fair guests had the opportunity to view the artist's paintings, which are on display.
Saryarka's Musical Heritage on the Capital Stage
A special highlight of the cultural program was the performance by Amantai Zhumashuly and the Tokyrauyn Tolkyndary Folk Song and Dance Ensemble from the Aktogay District. The artists introduced the capital's audience to Saryarka's rich musical heritage, performing folk songs and national dances. The unique art, expressive melodies, and skill of the performers evoked a warm response from the audience. The ensemble's performance was one of the most memorable moments of the fair's first day.
The program also includes concerts by artists from the Kali Baizhanov Karaganda Concert Association, designer collection shows, and creative workshops. Special attention is paid to inclusive creativity, national musical instruments, and the preservation of traditional crafts.
Opportunities for Regional Creators
The creative fair offers artisans and entrepreneurs the opportunity to present their products to a wider audience, establish business contacts, and find new customers. Guests can personally meet the creators, learn about the production processes of the presented items, and purchase their favorites directly from the producers. Events such as these contribute to the development of creative entrepreneurship, the expansion of sales markets, and the popularization of Kazakhstani brands.
The Karaganda Region Fair will continue on October 18. We invite residents and visitors to the capital to meet talented artists, see unusual works of art, purchase original pieces, and support local creatives.
