The Astana Ballet Theatre hosted the premiere of the contemporary ballet "Bolero X" staged by Israeli choreographer Shahar Binyamini. The performance presented audiences with a new plastic interpretation of Maurice Ravel's famous score and became one of the notable premieres of the theatrical season.
The production is based on a choreographic reinterpretation of the musical work, in which rhythm, repetition, and group dynamics play a key role. The central place in the performance is occupied by mass choreography, built for an ensemble of about 50 dancers. Through unified stage movement, the production explores themes of collective identity, and the interaction of personality and common space.
Special significance is also embedded in the title of the performance. The letter X is interpreted as a sign of multiplication and a point of intersection where past and present, individual and collective, music and movement converge. Thus, "Bolero X" builds a dialogue between classical musical heritage and contemporary plastic thinking.
The premiere was accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of the Astana Ballet Theatre under the direction of chief conductor Arman Urazgaliyev. Also, as part of the shows, the ballet "Orpheus and Eurydice" was presented to the audience, complementing the evening program and expanding the artistic palette of the theatre's repertoire.
