The Kurmangazy Kazakh National Orchestra of Folk Instruments opened its 93rd concert season with a special program. In the new season, traditional music meets modern technology, with a robot conductor taking the stage. Under its direction, the orchestra performed several pieces.
The concert, held in Almaty, was dedicated to City Day. The program featured traditional Kazakh music, masterpieces of world classical music, and songs about Almaty.
The orchestra performed Kurmangazy’s compositions “Escape from Prison,” “Serper,” “Aday,” and “Saryarka,” as well as N. Ashirov’s “Fantasia,” dedicated to composer Akhmet Zhubanov. The world classical repertoire included works by Johannes Brahms, Franz Liszt, and Johann Strauss.
The theme of Almaty was also given special attention during the evening. Alexander Zatsepin’s “My Almaty” and Eskendir Khasangaliev’s “The Apple of Almaty” were performed.
An exhibition dedicated to the Almaty aport apple and DJ accompaniment added to the festive atmosphere of the evening.
