As part of the Days of Culture of Kazakhstan in France, the Days of Kazakh Cinema have kicked off in Paris. From September 17 to 19, audiences will be presented with classics of Kazakh cinema as well as contemporary films.

The opening film was Alpamys Goes to School by outstanding Kazakh director A. Karsakbayev, presented in a restored 4K version. The screening was held to mark the 100th anniversary of the director’s birth.

Contemporary Kazakh cinema is represented in the programme by the films Qaitadan and Gamer Girl. Both films were produced with state support.

The Days of Kazakh Cinema introduce French audiences to various stages in the development of Kazakhstan’s national cinema — from acclaimed classics to contemporary works by a new generation of filmmakers.

The programme also features creative meetings between Kazakh filmmakers and French audiences, aimed at fostering professional and cultural dialogue between the two countries.
