The film's plot revolves around the story of a Ukrainian girl, Sophia, who enters into a romantic relationship with a wealthy Turk, Huseyin, unaware of his married status. When Hussein's wife learns about her husband's infidelity, Sophia's fate changes, and Azamat, an immigrant from Kazakhstan, appears in her path. Two different people meet on foreign land, different generations, and this land unites them, they realize that they are destined for each other.
The film "Sophia" is an attempt to look into the depths of the soul, to show the emotions and relationships that unite us all, regardless of time, age, social status and place.
The main roles were played by actress from Turkey Yana Ray and the director himself Tulepbergen Baisakalov. It is planned that the film will be released in Kazakhstan in the fall.
The main filming took place on the Black Sea coast in Istanbul, a small part of the film was shot in a Kazakh village.
"This gave our film a special atmosphere. Working in another country was complicated by the need to coordinate the actions of two teams - Turkish and Kazakh. This is a language barrier and a different approach to work. Filming took a month, and post-production took 3 months," said co-director Daria Dunich.
The film aroused interest among viewers and filmmakers. The producer of the film has already received offers of joint work from production companies in other countries.
