More than 784 thousand people visited museum-reserves of Kazakhstan in the first half of the year

In the first half of 2026, Kazakhstan's museum-reserves welcomed 784,122 visitors. 7,638 excursions were conducted at the sites and exhibitions, 198 exhibitions were organized, and scientific and educational projects were implemented.

Museum-reserves remain an important part of cultural tourism. Their routes combine archaeological monuments, memorial complexes, historical locations, and open-air sites. Among these destinations are Ulytau with routes to the mausoleums of Jochi Khan and Alasha Khan, Terekti-Aulie and Aulietau, Turkestan with the "Azret Sultan" museum-reserve, and Tamgaly, where thousands of ancient petroglyphs are concentrated.

Alongside excursion work, activities for the preservation of monuments continued. Scientific research, restoration, and preventive work are carried out at historical and cultural heritage sites. In particular, specialists at the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi studied the condition of the ventilation shafts, which is important for maintaining the stable condition of the monument's structures. Scientific and restoration work, including the recreation of burials, was carried out at the Sarayshyk ancient settlement.

Over six months, 4 conferences were held, and 4 scientific projects were implemented. Employees of the "Esik" and "Berel" museum-reserves underwent international internships and participated in expeditions in Turkey, Poland, and China to study archival collections.

Following the scientific work, 9 articles were prepared, including for international databases and specialized publications. Additionally, 25 memorandums of cooperation were concluded, including agreements with foreign partners.

Representatives of the museum-reserves participated in international forums in Ankara, Xi'an, Yakutsk, and Astana. For their contribution to the preservation and popularization of heritage, specialists in the field were awarded 10 state awards.
