In anticipation of the 35th anniversary of the Republic of Kazakhstan's independence, a national patriotic song competition has been announced. Its goal is to support talented songwriters, create new musical works about the Motherland, and promote patriotic songs.
Poets and composers from across the country, including emerging authors, are invited to participate. Previously unpublished and unperformed songs are eligible.
The competition is held in three categories: patriotic songs with a marching rhythm, lyrical songs, and contemporary patriotic songs. Participants can submit works in one or more categories.
The works will be evaluated by an expert council consisting of composers, poets, and music experts. The main criteria will be the quality of the music and lyrics, the originality of the concept, and the emotional impact of the work on the listener.
According to expert council member and poet Kalkaman Sarin, the competition aims to support the creation of songs that reflect the spirit of the times, explore themes of the Motherland and national identity, and resonate with listeners.
The total prize fund for the competition is 30 million tenge. Funding was provided by sponsors. The following prizes will be awarded:
Grand Prix – 6 million tenge;
1st place – three prizes of 4 million tenge each;
2nd place – three prizes of 3 million tenge each;
3rd place – three prizes of 1 million tenge each.
Applications will be accepted until December 5, 2026, at khabar.kz/konkurs. The winners will be announced on the eve of Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
