Participants of the "Reading Nation" marathon have published over 40,000 video reviews of books.

Participants in the national reading marathon "Reading Nation" submitted over 40,000 video reviews of the books they read for moderation. Residents of Astana, the Zhambyl, and Kyzylorda regions were the most active.
Video reviews are one of the ways to participate in the marathon. To earn points, you must record a video about the book you read, publish it on a public page on social media, and send a link through the website reading-nation.kz. After moderation, participants receive 50 points for each approved review.
Participants share their impressions of what they read, recommend books to their audience, and attract new readers.
Representatives of various marathon categories share their impressions of the books. Among them are Shugyla Kudaibergen and Yeldos Safullin, participating in the "Reading Civil Servant" category, and Aruzhan Abilkasymova from the "Reading Teacher" category.
Meruert Moryakova, Deputy Head of the Analysis and Strategic Planning Department of the Almaty Region Police Department, is one of the active participants in the marathon. Since the start of the marathon, she has read three books and scored 1,050 points. Her social media posts have garnered over 400,000 views.
"It's important to me that after my video, someone wants to open the book. When videos get hundreds of thousands of views, you realize there's interest in reading; people just need a hint where to start. My work involves analysis and a large amount of information, and a book helps shift their focus, take a broader perspective, and better understand people," noted Meruert Moryakova.
As a reminder, the national marathon "Reading Nation" is being held by the "Kitap oqityn ult – Reading Nation" public foundation with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan from September 2026 to March 2027. Participants are asked to read 15 books and write reviews of them. Participation is free.
To date, the marathon has brought together more than 1.4 million Kazakhstanis from all regions of the country.
