A musical titled Roza Baglanova was staged at the State Concert Organization “Kazakhconcert,” performed by the artists of the State Theater Astana Musical.
The production tells the story of the childhood and youth of Roza Baglanova, People’s Artist of the USSR and the Republic of Kazakhstan, portraying her challenging life during the war years and other defining moments that shaped the legendary singer’s creative path.
The musical revives the legacy of an iconic performer whose name has become a symbol of courage, artistry, and deep love for her homeland.
Each scene of the performance is not just a fragment of Roza Baglanova’s biography, but a vivid emotional experience filled with the radiance of her talent, spiritual strength, and boundless patriotism. The audience witnesses not only the singer’s artistic rise but also her personal trials — wartime hardships, moments of fame on stage, and her devoted service to the art.

The production has previously won two prestigious awards at the 17th Daegu International Musical Festival in South Korea — Best Foreign Musical and Best Female Performance.
The leading roles were performed by Zarina Makina as Roza Baglanova and Askhat Baitleu as Ydyrys, the singer’s younger brother. The musical was directed by Yeslyam Nurtazin, Artistic Director of the State Theater Astana Musical, with music composed by Artur Orenburgsky, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan.
