Historical series "Golden Empire" to be filmed in Kazakhstan

Initially, it was planned that only 40% of the filming would take place in Kazakhstan. However, the general producer and director of the series, Emre Sahin, inspired by the diversity of local locations, decided to completely move the filming process.

A meeting of the creative team was held in Istanbul, at which the final scripts of all six episodes were approved, the cast was determined and ready-made costumes, scenery and props were presented. The meeting was attended by the State Counselor of Kazakhstan Erlan Karin and the co-founders of Karga Seven Pictures Emre Sahin and Fikret Manoglu.

Following the results of the first wave of casting, 350 actors were approved, including 250 Kazakhs and 100 people from Sweden, Belgium, England, Germany, the USA and Mongolia. There are still selections for supporting roles ahead.

The script was developed by an international team, including Justin Pollard ("Vikings") and Claire Moorsom ("Outlaw King"), as well as Kazakh historians and experts. It is based on unique materials about the history of the Ulus Jochi, the Golden Horde and the culture of nomadic peoples.
