The event included the presentation of his famous book "Менің атым Қожа" ("My name is Kozha"), translated into French.
The conference was attended by UNESCO Deputy Director-General Ernesto Ottone, Chairman of the Committee for Archives, Documentation and Book Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Rustam Ali, Chairman of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan Mereke Kulkenov and representative of Kazakhstan in the international organization TURKSOY Bakytzhan Omar.
Participants expressed confidence that the translated book by Sokpakbayev will allow young French readers to get acquainted with the unique world of Kazakh culture, opening up for them the rich traditions and values of the people of Kazakhstan.
The inclusion of the 100th anniversary of Berdibek Sokpakbayev in the UNESCO calendar of memorable dates reflects the significance of his contribution to world culture. A member of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan since 1952, Sokpakbayev was recognized as a classic of Kazakh children's literature during his lifetime, and his work continues to influence the younger generation.
The Kazakh side expressed gratitude to UNESCO for its support in organizing the event, and also noted the importance of cultural events promoting Kazakh heritage on the international stage.
