Days of Kazakhstan Culture Launched in Armenia

Today, the Days of Culture of Kazakhstan in Armenia started in Yerevan. The holding of joint events became possible thanks to the agreements reached by the heads of state during the official visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Yerevan.

The official delegation of Kazakhstan is headed by the Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aida Balayeva. The program of events in the Armenian capital began with a screening of Kazakh films. Today, the Moscow cinema presented the historical film by director Rustem Abdrashev “Kazakh Khanate. The Golden Throne" and the film by Farkhat Sharipov "Stop, Night".

During the opening of the Days of Kazakh Cinema in Armenia, Kurmanbek Zhumagali, Chairman of the Board of the State Center for Support of National Cinema, emphasized the importance of the development of the Kazakh film industry and noted that the Head of State signed a law concerning the activities of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which includes a number of breakthrough provisions. In particular, a new stage in the development of the country's main film studio, Kazakhfilm named after Shaken Aimanov, is beginning: at least 30% of the total funding for films in the country will be directed directly to the film studio annually, which will ensure the financial stability of the studio and the efficiency of its work. He also spoke about the new rules for the competitive selection of film projects and expressed confidence that modern Kazakh films will resonate with the Armenian audience.

“The Days of Kazakh Cinema in Armenia are a platform for strengthening cooperation, mutual understanding and friendly relations between our countries. It is very pleasant that today there is an opportunity to get acquainted with the art of Kazakh cinema. Kazakh cinema is a distinctive language of images, a deep philosophy, and a bold look into the future. We are following with interest the development of cinema art in Kazakhstan, and we are confident that today’s screenings will become a bridge between our cultures,” said David Banuchyan, Director of the Armenian Cinema Foundation, speaking at the opening of the event.

Tomorrow, viewers will be presented with two more films - “Time of Patriots” by director Serikbol Utepbergenov and “Berkut” by director Daniyar Ibragimov.

As part of the Days of Culture, the official delegation of Kazakhstan also visited the Abai Center of Kazakh Language, History and Culture at Yerevan State University, as well as the National Library of Armenia, where the corner of Kazakh literature is located. The delegation familiarized themselves with the book collection and donated almost 100 books by Kazakh writers, including “Sal dombyra” by Kairat Aitbayev, “Defender of the Motherland” by Nurbai Bektursynov, “Tangdamaly” by Fariza Ongarsynova, “Light and Shadow” written by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as well as a number of other publications.

The culmination of the Days of Culture will be a Gala concert, which will be held on April 19 in the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall. It will be attended by stars of Kazakh pop music, representatives of the intelligentsia, diplomats, scientists, writers and other art figures.
