The exhibition features a portrait of Mahmud Kashgari, the most accurate copy of the work "Diwan Lughat al-Turk", as well as clothing of men and women of the XI century.
The exhibits will immerse visitors in the world of Turkic cultural heritage. Visitors can learn more about the Karluk era and compare the map compiled by Mahmud Kashgari with a modern version.
The purity of the Turkic language is revealed by proverbs specially selected for the exhibition. Costumes were made according to the information presented in Kashgari's work. The clothing of men and women in detail conveys the tastes and traditions of that era.
"Diwan Lughat al-Turk" is a unique work of the XI century, created by the outstanding scientist and thinker Mahmud Kashgari. This is the first encyclopedic dictionary of Turkic languages, containing about 9 thousand words with Arabic equivalents, as well as rich material about the culture, life, language and literature of the Turkic peoples.
This work is valuable not only from a lexicographic, but also from a scientific point of view: the book includes the first known map of the Turkic world, showing the geographical location of the tribes. The map compiled by Kashgari is unique in that the borders on it largely coincide with the modern territories of the Turkic states. It should be noted that "Diwan Lughat al-Turk" is considered the second most important heritage of Turkic writing after the "Orkhon Monuments".
