New season at the Abay Opera and Ballet Theatre

New season at the Abay Opera and Ballet Theatre

The Kazakh National Abai Opera and Ballet Theatre traditionally opened its season with Akhmet Zhubanov and Latif Hamidi's masterpiece, the opera "Abai," and a classic gem, Pyotr Tchaikovsky's ballet "Swan Lake." The performances were sold out, receiving thunderous applause from the audience. Among the honored guests at the opening were theater veterans, consular representatives, and patrons.
In its 92nd season, the theater has prepared many pleasant surprises for its audiences. The season will be filled with interesting and significant cultural events. On August 26, the company's tour to Kazan, Russia, was a resounding success and a sold-out crowd. The premiere of the opera "Khan Sultan. Altyn Orda" was presented at the M. Jalil Tatar State Opera and Ballet Theatre, earning rave reviews from both the public and professionals. On October 23, to commemorate Kazakhstan Republic Day, the theater will host the unique choral gala show "YAPURAI." This project will offer audiences the opportunity to see familiar works in a refreshed form, reflecting contemporary trends in music and art, and will also showcase the theater's choral ensemble in a new light.
High-tech set design will highlight the beauty and depth of each number, creating a visually rich and emotionally charged performance. This innovative approach to combining musical and visual elements will allow audiences to experience the harmony of the past and future, as well as the unity of Kazakhstan's cultural and historical traditions. In November and December, two premieres will take place: the national ballet "Uly Zhibek Zholy," staged by the legendary ballerina and teacher, People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gulzhan Tutkibaeva, and a new production of Johann Strauss's operetta "Die Fledermaus," directed by Irkin Gabitov, Honored Artist of Russia and director of the Mariinsky Theatre.
During the 92nd season, the company will present its art both in Kazakhstan and abroad.
