An exhibition of works from the State Tretyakov Gallery opened in Almaty.

The Abylkhan Kasteyev National Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted the opening of the exhibition "Legacy of an Era. 20th-Century Art from the Tretyakov Gallery Collection."
In his welcoming address, Arman Kyrykbayev, Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, emphasized that the current exhibition is a continuation of the museum exchange that began in 2025 with the presentation of works from the Abylkhan Kasteyev Museum collection at the State Tretyakov Gallery. He noted that this format of cooperation facilitates professional dialogue, the exchange of experience, and the mutual presentation of the cultural heritage of the two countries.
Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, also addressed the exhibition participants. The Minister noted that Kazakhstan and Russia enjoy strong cultural ties, which are an important part of bilateral cooperation. The Minister expressed gratitude to her Kazakh colleagues for the warm welcome and announced that 30 works of art from the Tretyakov Gallery collection were brought specifically for the exhibition in Almaty. Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Board of JSC Samruk-Kazyna; Kirill Komarov, First Deputy Director General and Director of the Development and International Business Unit of the Rosatom State Corporation; Gulyaim Zhumabekova, Director of the Abylkhan Kasteyev National Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan; and Tatyana Yudenkova, Deputy Director General for Research at the State Tretyakov Gallery.
The exhibition spans the period from 1917 to the 1970s and introduces visitors to key stages in the development of 20th-century art. The works on display reflect historical events, social changes, and the artistic pursuits of several generations of artists.
The artists include Boris Kustodiev, Arkady Rylov, Alexander Deineka, Pyotr Konchalovsky, Ilya Mashkov, Viktor Popkov, Dmitry Zhilinsky, and Tatyana Yablonskaya. Their works explore themes of revolution, industrialization, war and post-war times, as well as everyday life and the human inner world. The project was implemented with the support of Samruk-Kazyna JSC and the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom.
