A meeting of the Special Commission on Assigning "National" Status to State Archives was held in Astana. Following its review, it was decided to assign this status to the National Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Central State Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The commission assessed the archives' compliance with the requirements established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Their contribution to the development of archival affairs, the preservation and accessibility of documents of historical, cultural, and scientific value, as well as the level of their logistical and digital infrastructure were taken into account.
"National" status is awarded to state archives whose activities are of particular national and public significance. It emphasizes the role of archives in preserving the country's historical and cultural heritage, digitizing archival collections, introducing documents into scientific circulation, and further developing archival affairs. This status will be assigned to the archives beginning January 1, 2027.
